1888 Brooks ‘Cyclist’s Wallet’ tool bag saved!

Its not often that I do leather repairs, primarily because they are very fiddly and take so long that the customer isn’t willing to pay for the hours spent. Sometimes, though, its well worth it for something very rare. This tool bag came from a Singer Ordinary (penny farthing or high bicycle) which is in very original condition and even has its original hub lamp. As you can see it was in a terrible state, very badly distorted and with broken straps. I cleaned it, re-blocked it into shape, treated the leather, and stitched on new straps to exactly the original spec. It’s now usable again. Below you can see the original illustration of it in the 1888 Brooks catalogue (No.5130)
